Shelter City Maastricht now hosts a photo exhibition
Shelter City Maastricht officially opened a photo exhibition on ten human rights defenders that have been guests of Shelter City.
On 17th November, Shelter City Maastricht hosted the official opening of “Shelter City Maastricht: Portraits of Human Rights Defenders” at local Maastricht cultural centre, Centre Céramique.
The exhibition was opened by Annemarie Penn-te Strake, the mayor of Maastricht. She has previously met three human rights defenders who were staying at Shelter City and really believes in our work.
The opening also featured speeches by the Financial Director of Centre Céramique, Wim Münster, the Executive Director of Justice & Peace, Sebastiaan van der Zwaan, the coordinator of Shelter City Maastricht Eline van Drongelen and the photographer of the photo exhibition, Daniella van Bergen. Richard Nimubona, Burundian human rights defender and former Shelter City Maastricht guest also shared a personal testimony.
The exhibition showcase ten human rights defenders and former guests of Shelter City. Four of them were guests of Shelter City Maastricht, including Richard and Judith, a Nigerian LGBTIQ+ rights defender.
It is possible to visit the exhibition until 7th January 2018.
