Walk in solidarity with human rights defenders at Land van Ooij in Nijmegen
Shelter City Nijmegen partner, Bureau Wijland, invites you to join the 4th edition of the Solidarity Walk taking place on 8 July 2023.
By participating in the solidarity walk, you can show your support to Shelter City Nijmegen guests for their work and human rights causes. The proceeds of the walk will directly support their current or upcoming projects.
This year, the walk will focus on the project of the 16th Shelter City Nijmegen guest, Mamikon, an LGBTIQ+ rights defender from Armenia. Mamikon plans to set up a helpdesk in Armenia with his organization Pink Armenia which LGBTIQ+ persons can contact for social support and mental health care.
The walk consists of six courses with Land van Ooij as the starting point. The distances are 5, 10, 16, 20, 25, and 30 km. On this day, you can start the walk all morning from Land van Ooij at Dijkgraaf van Wijckweg 101, Nijmegen between 7.00 am – 12.00 pm.
Conditions for participation in the walk:
- Participation fee for the walk is 10 euros to cover organisational costs and catering (can be paid on the day in cash or via card)
- Donation according to your means; all proceeds will go towards supporting projects of Shelter City Nijmegen guests. This may also be paid on the day or in advance to NL88 ABNA 0518 4551 49 (Stichting Wijland 2040) with reference: Solidarity Walk 2023 + name of participant
