Ride for Rights 2019
On Saturday 18th May and Sunday 19th May the 2019 edition of Ride for Rights took place.
Ride for Rights is a cycle challenge to raise awareness on human rights and fundraise for our work to support human rights defenders in their action for change.
Participants cycled 400 km in 24 hours across the Netherlands, starting from The Hague through Tilburg, Nijmegen, Deventer, Utrecht, Haarlem, and finishing back in The Hague.
When signing up to participate in Ride for Rights, participants had the possibility to choose the human rights issue that matters the most to them, a certain community or company. We had their choice printed on the back of their cycling gear so that they could raise national attention to it.
Many people showed up to contribute to Shelter City’s mission, advocate for human rights and support human rights defenders. One of the cyclist was Pedro, Colombian human rights defender and Shelter City guest.
